You must take Head First to the gym [12 Jul 2010|07:21pm]

rightthiswilldo

It's doing amazing things for my biceps! In all seriousness I'm loving this new 80's infused album. Every new Goldfrapp release is a surprising delight. I wonder if there is a world record title for how may times a human being has listened to the same music over and over again. I'm completely bewitched is there therapy for this??? Here's another great article I've found with nice big juicy quotes to sink your teeth into enjoy:

Alison Goldfrapp: ethereal girl

Alison Goldfrapp has influenced Madonna, resuscitated glam fashion and performed live shows wearing hotpants and a horse's tail - quite some going for a shy, mysterious former convent girl. Interview by Richard Benson. Photographs by Serge Leblon

Head First is out now, and if you don't have a copy, it's up in its entirety on Goldfrapp's Myspace

I'm half way through but absolutely LOVING it so far. "Hunt" in particular is gorgeous.

"Check out Mary Portas, 49, who divorced her husband of 13 years in the 1990s and now lives with her two children and her glamorous girlfriend, the Grazia fashion writer Melanie Rickey. Or the 43-year-old singer Alison Goldfrapp, famous for teasing audiences into a dark sexual frenzy, who recently embarked on a relationship with Lisa Gunning, the hip film editor who worked on Sam Taylor-Wood’s John Lennon movie, Nowhere Boy."

Obviously this hasn't been updated in a while seeing as Goldfrapp are officially pumping out their next album - 'Head First' - this next March on the 22nd. First single is 'Rocket' and will be out March 8th.

Let us rejoice.

2005 Live CD's [06 Jul 2009|03:55am]

I've got 5 of the official 2005 live double disc shows on Ebay at the moment. I uploaded them on my iPod and backed them up and don't "need" the physical discs anymore. I noticed some people were selling them for ungodly high prices recently and I've started mine at a very reasonable price so that perhaps another fan could actually afford a copy. Here's the links:

Goldfrapp Live 2005 Oct 3rd 2005 Brighton Dome

Goldfrapp Live 2005 Oct 5th 2005 UEA NORWICH

Goldfrapp Live 2005 Oct 6 2005 Carling Brixton

Goldfrapp Live 2005 Oct 9 2005 NOTTINGHAM ROCK

Goldfrapp Live 2005 Oct 11 Leeds University

New Christmas Song: "Winter Wonderland" [04 Nov 2008|02:30pm]

theboythoreau
Goldfrapp are featured on a new Starbucks Christmas compilation called Winter Wonderland.  They sing, appropriately enough, "Winter Wonderland."  It's a lovely and very Goldfrapp-y version of the classic.

Enjoy!

So um.

Tickets just went on sale for Goldfrapp at the SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE!

Extremely expensive but it is the House and it is a three hour concert, apparently.

Holy fuck.

Would anybody happen to know where to find an MP3 of Hairy Trees, live in London? I know it's available somewhere (it's on last.fm?) but I've no idea how to find it!

I'll admit that I'm definitely not up to the latest when it comes to Goldfrapp news, but I had no idea about their playing for the Gucci show on July 8th!!!!

for the Aussies [28 Jun 2008|02:54pm]

Okay, so all us Aussies know about Goldfrapp headlining Parklife this year, right?

Me, I'm on tenterhooks for sideshow announcements cos I have no intention of doing Parklife. No official word so far ... but I did find this on a message board:

Fri 09/26/08 Melbourne, AUS Palace Theatre

Thu 10/02/08 Newtown, AUS Enmore Theatre

The dates make sense but neither the Palace nor the Enmore have it listed yet.

Anyone hear anything concrete?

Random trivia! [29 Apr 2008|11:27pm]

I just got my mitts on the new Portishead CD, and guess who contributed saxophone to the last two tracks? None other than Goldfrapp's own Will Gregory!

Makes sense, what with Adrian Utley contributing guitar and/or bass to various tracks on each of Goldfrapp's albums (well, I don't know about Seventh Tree, since I haven't picked it up yet, but I imagine he's played on that one as well), but I was still surprised.

Ok, chances are no one cares but me, but, well, it's fun when artists I really enjoy like each other/overlap, so... just felt like sharing...
